Site Survey and Identification

It is important to correctly identify Japanese Knotweed to avoid unnecessary and costly treatment.

Our staff are skilled in the Identification of Japanese Knotweed and its hybrids to ensure the proper course of action is undertaken in the treatment and eradication of Japanese Knotweed.

Once Identified F.A.C.E. Enterprises will put together a program of works offering timely and cost effective solutions, using one or a combination of Chemical Application (E.A. Approved Herbicides) or a Dig & Dump Program under E.A. guidelines.

Chemical Treatment

Application of herbicides should only be carried out by contractors with a Recognized National Proficiency Test Council Certificate of Competence (NPTC).

Dig & Dump Programs

In some circumstances where time is a constraint, a Dig & Dump Program may be the answer. Root and rhizome system regularly extend to a depth of 3 metres and outwardly up to seven metres in all directions from base of plant or until no more root or rhizome can be detected. Any and all excavated materials (soils / hardcore etc…) have to be treated as contaminated waste and as such removal must be transferred to a registered approved contaminated waste site. Alternatives include the options for on site burial (within site legislation) to a depth of 5m with staged treatments of appropriate herbicide if required, both options meet EA Guidelines.
